Since the dawn of Darwinism the debate over which came first, Adam or the ape, has interested the minds of scientists and philosophers, theologians and evolutionists, and ordinary people all over the world who are seeking answers about the beginning of mankind.
Many people confess belief in God, yet also believe humans have existed on the earth for more than 6,000 years. The scientific information we have been given seems to dispute the Creation, yet still we do not want to abandon our belief in God or discard what scientific research has discovered or achieved. However, science has not been able to conclusively explain just where that singularity of the Big Bang came from (which theory is entwined with evolution), nor have theologians given any comprehensive explanation of mankind's existence prior to Adam and Eve. Those who maintain mankind has been around far longer often blame this controversy on mistranslation or misinterpretation of the Bible. We also have our community of Creationist professionals who try diligently to prove God created all things and bring to our attention the astonishing perfection of our universe and that the mathematical probabilities of life having occurred are beyond mere chance. So how is this dilemma resolved?
Professor Einstein once proclaimed, "But also, everyone who is seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that some spirit is manifest in the laws of the universe, one that is vastly superior to that of man. In this way the pursuit of science leads to a religious feeling of a special sort, which is surely quite different from the religiosity of someone more naïve." The most referenced book about the Creation is Genesis. There has been much controversy over the first two chapters. Some scholars propose two creations; others interject a third person named Lilith, as being responsible for the confused interpretation of the Creation story, and some even propose that Adam was created on the eighth day. However, a closer study of the two chapters reveals a startling new revelation that also explains where Cain's wife really came from and how mankind came to exist prior to the arrival of Adam and Eve.
The first few verses tell us that all that existed before the Creation was Darkness and the Spirit of God who moved upon the face of the waters. On the first day of Creation, God created Light and divided it from Darkness, and on the Second Day He created Heaven to divide the waters. On the Third Day God gathered the waters below the firmament and then brought forth land from the waters. Genesis 2:4-7 tells us that this was a time on earth before any plant life grew, before there was ever a man to till the ground, and before it ever rained, only a mist arose from the ground to water the earth. Verses 4-6 clearly state this is when God formed Adam from the dust of the ground and breathed life into him. Therefore, if God created Adam before any vegetation grew, then Adam's creation was also on the Third Day.
This is the first key to unlocking the mystery of the creation of man upon the earth. It is the missing link between science and religion, which must agree in order to obtain a comprehensive understanding of our existence upon this planet.
After the creation of Adam, God made every herb, plant, and fruit tree to grow, then planted a garden in Eden and put Adam there to tend it. The Fourth Day of Creation concerns our sun, moon, stars, galaxies, and all the glitter of our Universe. The Fifth Day of Creation all sea creatures and fowl came into existence. Companionship between Adam, sea life, and birds was limited. God realized the loneliness of Adam, which brings about the next round of events that took place on the Sixth Day. First on the list is the creation of land creatures.
God formed these creatures from the elements of the earth and then brought them to Adam to name and to be his companions so he would no longer be alone. This confirms Adam's creation before any other life came into existence (Gen. 2:18-19).
This is the second key to understanding the Creation.
Most likely, Adam had some form of communication with all creatures. He was a pure being, utilizing the full capacity of the mind. The beasts of Paradise were non-aggressive and vegetarian, not ferocious, fearful beasts. Adam was truly the "Tarzan" of Paradise and at one with all nature. Yet God realized that Adam still had no companion equal to him and was still alone. God then created a new creature, -- woman.
The creation of Woman was not from the elements of the earth, but from the flesh and bone of Adam. Her creation was after land creatures and most likely in the Garden of Eden. No other creature on earth was formed (or taken), from the flesh of another creature. This made woman a unique individual, something above the creatures of the land and equal to Adam. However, the Sixth Day did not end here. The last event to take place on the Sixth Day was the creation of mankind. Verses 24 -31 of Chapter 1 clearly state that mankind was created after the creation of the beasts of the field and therefore, after the creation of Adam and Eve.
God instructed humankind to be fruitful and replenish the earth and gave them dominion over all creatures. Mankind multiplied on earth for thousands of years while Adam and Eve continued to live in the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve were immortal beings having no sin; death had no power over them. Because they were immortal beings, Adam and Eve had no age. Once exiled to earth, Adam lived for 930 years and was 130 years old when their first son, Cain, was born.
Scripture does not reveal how long they lived in Eden, but by calculating the ages of the patriarchs, scholars have arrived at the year 4004 B. C. and people assume that to be the year of Adam's creation. However, it was the time of their exile, not their creation. When Adam and Eve appeared on earth after their expulsion from Paradise, mankind was busy farming, erecting megaliths, trading goods by sea and land, or invading his neighbors.
This explains man's existence on earth prior to 4004 B. C. This is the third key to understanding the mystery of Creation.
God exiled Adam and Eve to earth to live out a mortal existence, in other words, to die. They were the original ancestors of mankind through Noah and his descendants, and of the Jewish nation through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Moving on to Chapter 6, as time passed and men began to multiply on the earth, daughters were born unto them. The sons of God took daughters of men as wives. The generations from Adam to Noah are the "sons of God" that married into mankind. Their offspring were the "mighty men of old," known throughout the earth. Verse 3 of the same chapter informs us God set the years of man to be one hundred and twenty. The genealogies from Adam to Noah show the sons of God, the descendants of Adam, lived for several hundreds of years, far beyond the age of men. This tells us there was definitely a difference between the sons of God and mankind upon earth.
The generations of mankind did not evolve from the intermarrying of brothers and sisters of the children of Adam and Eve, as some propose. Incestuous relationships are an abomination to God and He did not intend for mankind to evolve from such relationships. The offspring of Adam and Eve and their future generations married the daughters of mankind, created on the Sixth Day.
This is the fourth key to understanding the Genesis Creation.
In addition, we now have a clear explanation of from where Cain's wife came. There are several answers, but never a satisfactory one. Simply, Cain's wife was of mankind. He was one of the sons of God who married a daughter of mankind. Sixth Day man was destroyed in the Great Flood. The survivors were Noah and his wife and his sons and their wives - wives who were also of mankind. We are descendants of Adam through Noah and his family, not Adam and Eve, Cain and his sister, and so on.
This is the fifth key to understanding the Creation.
These five keys offer between believing we came from Adam and Eve, or believing we came from apes. One of the main reasons people choose to believe in Darwinism and evolution is because of proof that mankind existed prior to 4004 B. C., thus, we must have come from apes and the Genesis Creation is not true. We can now intelligently decide because we now understand Creation as revealed in Genesis. We can choose to believe we used to live in trees or we can chose to believe a Divine Creator God created us and gave us intelligence in order to come to know Him as our Creator.
THE FIVE KEYS
KEY ONE: Adam was created on the Third Day. KEY TWO: Animal creatures were created after Adam and brought to Adam to name. KEY THREE: 4004 B. C. was the time of Adam and Eve's exile, not the time of their creation. KEY FOUR: Adam and Eve's descendants were the "sons of God" who married into mankind. KEY FIVE: Cain's wife was not his sister but was of Sixth Day mankind.
The most important key is the Third Key. Accepting the exile of Adam and Eve around 4004 B. C. opens the door for believing the remaining four keys as true also. It was not the year of Adam's creation, but the beginning of his life on earth. He lost his immortality when he chose to trust the word of the Serpent rather than the Word of God. The punishment for sin is death. Adam and Eve lived in Paradise as immortal beings not knowing sin, so therefore they could not experience death. Sin and evil cannot abide in the presence of God, which led to their exile on earth to live a mortal existence and to die.
The second most important keys are the First and Second Keys, which is to accept Adam's creation on the Third Day, and that all land creatures were created after his creation and brought to him to name. The second chapter of Genesis clearly states the time of Adam's creation was prior to the creation of any life, and the first chapter tells us mankind's creation was after the creation of land beasts on the Sixth Day.
Key Four clarifies that the "sons of God" were not angels but the descendants of Adam and Eve. Many interpret the sons of God as being fallen angels because Chapter 6 speaks of giants, or Nephilim, which in Hebrew means fallen, or mighty ones. First, this refers to the giants themselves, not their fathers, or the sons of God. Secondly, even if so, are not Adam and Eve also "fallen" ones? As mentioned previously, the Flood destroyed Sixth Day man and the only survivors were Noah and his family. However, David slays a giant, and there are other references to giants existing after the Flood. So, if the Flood destroyed mankind, how did giants come to exist afterward? The reason is that Noah and his sons married the daughters of mankind prior to the Flood, some of whom passed on this genetic characteristic to their offspring who became the mighty men of old, men of renown.
Key Five explains this even further by revealing that Cain's wife was not his sister but was also of Sixth Day man. Genesis clearly shows the descendants of Adam and Eve (the sons of God) married the daughters of mankind. (It is the daughters, as opposed to the "sons" of mankind, because it is through the son that inheritance of the father and genealogy continue.) Most likely, Cain's wife was from Nod since he moved there after killing his brother Abel. This also helps to confirm mankind's existence prior to the arrival of Adam and Eve. It is hard to imagine Cain building a city and naming it after his son if there was no one around to help him build it.
The majority of believers already accept that modern man descended from Noah and his families. Noah and his sons passed the genealogy of Adam and Eve to the present generations. Because of their longevity, the sons of God and their offspring of the women of mankind must have traveled all over the earth and became the "mighty men of renown." They were the heroes of ancient myths and legends, some worshiped them as gods, and some proclaimed to be gods or sons of gods. They knew of their ancestry, of those who once lived in Paradise. They had also inherited the ancient ancestral forbidden knowledge of good and evil, which both God and Satan proclaimed they possessed, and now Adam and Eve had become as one of them, knowing good and evil. This knowledge was not just the ability to discern right from wrong. It was the knowledge of all good and all evil. Astrology and astronomy, necromancy and the black arts, mathematics and architecture, all seemed to suddenly explode in the minds of mankind after 4000 B. C. and expand into new realms of intelligent creations and manifestations of power, both dark and light.
Although archeological evidence reveals mankind was around prior to 4004 B. C., he did not invent writing until after this period. There are numerous cultural legends throughout the world of a great deluge or even the creation of mankind, which are similar to events of Genesis and other stories of the Bible. It would appear evident these tales were generated by the sons of God as they spread upon the face of the earth and passed down the history of their beginning and previous generations.
Just as the left hand on the piano plays something different from the right hand, we have been hearing the story of the first two chapters of Genesis separately. Now we can hear both in harmony. Accepting the creation of Adam on the Third Day gives validity to the whole Creation epic as recorded in Genesis. There are no more discrepancies in the two chapters. Man has overlooked the truth for too long, or looked in the wrong places. When we can understand what the Creation was all about, then we can begin to understand what we are all about and better create our future. Our destiny is not in the stars, but within our minds. It is what we believe that will shape what is to come. We cannot remain lukewarm, believing in God and evolution. Whichever we choose to believe will determine whether there will be a life after this one. Even before Christianity, many cultures believed life continued. Evolution leaves no room for the spiritual. We will not "evolve" into spiritual beings. Alien life forms are not going to save or destroy humanity or life on earth, nor are we descendants of them or of their genetic engineering of themselves with earth apes.
We are intelligent beings and so much more than just some insignificant speck in space. We can proclaim ourselves as created beings of a divine nature, spawned from the heart and mind of a God beyond all gods, or we can belittle ourselves into a primate state of mind with no belief in anyone greater than ourselves. Of course, there is always the possibility in the vastness of this universe that giant insects evolved millions of years before us. Surely, they will devour our feeble minds.
